Combating the Hepatitis B Epidemic
To meet the World Health Organization’s (WHO) 2030 target of eliminating Hepatitis B (HBV) transmission, greater effort is needed, particularly in Nigeria. While the country has the potential to achieve this goal, it requires enhanced operational and logistical support. This is where non-governmental organizations like KOFA Africa play a critical role.
Our Solution: Improving Awareness and Access
Our research indicates that awareness of Hepatitis B is extremely low, especially in rural communities. This knowledge has driven our recent initiatives to:
Raise Awareness: We are actively working to improve health literacy and promote healthier behaviors among rural populations, who are at the highest risk.
Provide Free Testing: Our awareness programs include free Hepatitis B rapid testing, along with post-test counseling and guidance. This ensures early detection and provides support for those affected.
Educate Communities: We conduct extensive campaigns to educate communities about Hepatitis B, including how it is transmitted, methods of prevention, and the importance of unrestricted access to testing, regardless of location.
The ultimate goal of these efforts is to significantly reduce the burden of Hepatitis B in Nigeria, emphasizing accessibility and inclusivity in our mission to combat this public health challenge.
